Seals and Circlips – Oil Seals
The oil seal, radial shaft seal, rotary shaft seal or lip seal as it is sometimes referred to is generally only used in areas of low pressure. They are generally produced using a metal stiffening ring to which is bonded an elastomer compound, the flexible section ending in a sealing lip behind which is inserted a spiral tension spring. In all standard designs they are manufactured from an oil and grease resistant synthetic rubber compound based on Nitrile-Butadiene NBR. This material possesses very good self-lubricating properties and has excellent wear resistance. For higher temperatures and good chemical resistance we also offer a standard range of seals with Fluorocarbon-Viton elastomer. Other materials are available for special applications including Silicone, EPDM, PTFE and leather.
